More than a year after her accession in 1952, Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in Westminster Abbey. In 2013, The Royal Australian Mint commemorated the 60th anniversary of this occasion with a specially designed coloured $2 coin to be intended for circulation. The design features a stylised representation of St Edward’s Crown encompassed by circles inlaid with a royal purple pattern – synonymous with royalty.
This gorgeous ms64 coronation $2 is the second lowest mintage Australian $2 coin meant for circulation. With likely more than 3/4 of the population already circulated, this coin stands proud in a very respectable grade band, with the potential for great outlook as an investment.
